How to Install WordPress Manually on Cpanel 2018
- Click on “MySQL® Database Wizard” and create a database (step 1) then create a database user (step 2).You can make the database and the user the same. Make the password secure and copy the password into a notepad. On Step 3, copy the database name and user name and copy into your notepad.

Click on “All Privelage” then click the “Next Step” button. Now click on “return home” - Click on “phpmyadmin” then click on the name of the database you just created which you will see in the left panel. Click “Operations” in the top navigation. In the bottom left of the page you will see “Collation”, select “utf8_general_ci” then click “Go”. Now your database is ready to install wordpress
- Download the latest version of wordpress. Do not unzip the file. Click on “File Manager” then navigate to the root directory which is generally called “public_html”. Click “Upload” and choose the wordpress zip file. When complete, close the upload tab and return to the root directory. If you don’t see the wordpress zip file, click “reload”. Click on the zip file then “Extract”.
- Now you will notice the wordpress files are inside a folder called “WordPress”. Click on this folder to open it and click “Select all” then “Move”. A pop up box will be prepopulated with the current location of the files:
/public_html/wordpress
Delete “wordpress” and leave the “/” and click “Move files” button. This will move all the files into the root directory. - Now navigate to your site’s URL to launch the installation process
You’ll be prompted to create a wp-config.php file
Follow the prompt, fill in your database name, username, password and database host (generally you should just leave this as the default: “localhost”), then hit the Submit button. - On the next screen, fill out your wordpress username, password and email. For your username choose something different to “admin”.
